Dunedin Cricket understands that playing sport can come with its challenges and certainly one of those is the sheer cost of time and money for players and teams to participate in events, programmes and tournaments in other parts of New Zealand. We know it takes a lot of hard work and dedication to become a BLACKCAP and WHITEFERN and the pathway to reaching this pinnacle can be made even more difficult when cost of participation is a barrier. Otago Cricket Fundraising Charitable Trust sets out to assist with the development of our young cricketers and coaches, to allow them to realise their aspirations through removal of some of the financial barriers that exist living in our region.
Our Dunedin Year 7 & 8 Boys Programmes (run separately, year 7 Boys, year 8 Boys) aim to provide Boys additional playing opporunties outside of thier club and schools playing commitments to futher develop and challenge themselves.
Dunedin Cricket runs a Development Programme in the lead up to and during the start of the regular cricket season which provides additional coaching and training opportunties focussing on foundational & skill development.
Following this, all year 7 & 8 Boys have the opportunity to register to attend an Otago / South Island Cricket Festival for several days which give boys the exciting opportunity to play with and against players of simlar ability from around the greater Otago region.
Please note; players do not need to take part in the Development Programme to attend the Festival & vice versa.
