WINTER COACHING

Otago Cricket are excited to give players the opportunity to return to cricket and refine their skills over the winter months. Please see below a series of coaching opportunities for the upcoming months.

All coaching will take place in line with Government COVID-19 Guidelines and Otago Cricket's associated Health and Safety Plan. 

DUNEDIN

Term 2 & 3 Winter Accelerator Coaching ​​​​​​​

Otago Cricket are excited to again be offering the popular Accelerator Coaching Programme in Dunedin this winter!

Accelerator is designed to offer school children years 4- 11 the opportunity to grow their skills in the Edgar Centre High Performance Centre through working with our New Zealand Cricket qualified coaches!

Accelerator is an 8-week programme (beginningMonday 12 June), which runs for 3 & 5 weeks either side of the Term 2 School Holidays.

The programme is designed to challenge athletes both technically & tactically through skill games, drills & challenges. We pride ourselves on being forward-thinking in our training methods, and keeping the emphasis on FUN. This winter we have been lucky to recruit some awesome "lead coaches" to our ranks, who will also work with children to set & achieve short & long-term goals!     Dates

    • WEEKS 1-3: Monday 12 June - Sunday 2 July.
    • SCHOOL HOLIDAYS: Monday 3 July - Sunday 16 July
    • WEEKS 4-8: Monday 17 July - Sunday 20 August 

    Accelerator sessions will take place at The Otago Cricket High Performance Centre (Edgar Centre, 116 Portsmouth Drive, Dunedin)


    Otago Cricket Accelerator Coaching is Small Group Training that is designed for groups of 3-6 kids of a similar age & ability.

    Preferences are as follows... (mixed or Girls only available)

    • Junior Zappers (New to Hard Ball) - This is aimed at all boys and girls who are looking to transition from soft-ball to hardball cricket and the purpose is to build confidence and develop skills that will make this transition a fun and enjoyable experience. 
    • Year 5-6
    • Year 7-8
    • Year 9-11

    Please note; all sessions will be between 60-90 minutes pending the number of registrations and will be lead by a Qualified New Zealand & Otago Cricket Resource Coach. Sessions are desgined to be interactive, enaging and promote skill learning and individual player development.

    QUEENSTOWN

    Term 3, Accelerator Programme


    Otago Country Cricket Association will look to Accelerator Programme through Term 3. It is likely that this will be run in Queenstown for local Cricketers. Information will be sent directly to all our hardball cricketers as soon as dates are confirmed as well as promoting on our website and on Facebook.



    Holiday Programmes


    Otago Country Cricket Association will also look to run a Holiday Programme for Junior Cricketers in the Term 2 School Holidays. The structure of our programmes is subject to the alert level at that time and the health and safety protocols that are in place.

    OAMARU

    Term 2, 1-on-1 and Small Group Coaching


    North Otago Cricket are getting ready to advertise 1-on-1 and small group sessions to be delivered in Term 2. This programme will be advertised on the NOCA Facebook page very shortly!



    Term 3, Accelerator Programme


    NOCA will also look to run a 10-week Accelerator Programme in Term 3 for High School Cricketers. Information will be sent directly to all our hardball cricketers as soon as dates are confirmed as well as promoting on our website and on Facebook.



    Holiday Programmes


    NOCA will be looking to run School Holiday Programmes for our younger cricketers in the Term 2 School Holidays. The structure of our programmes is subject to the alert level at that time and the health and safety protocols that are in place.

    INVERCARGILL

    Term 2 1-on-1 and Small Group Coaching


    Southland Cricket is currently in the process of getting the Indoor Centre ready for action and once this opens, we will be able to take booking’s for 1 on 1’s or small groups.

    It is important to note that players with winter sport commitments are to prioritise these over any cricket training over this period.



    Term 3 Accelerator Programme


    Our junior and youth development programme for hardball cricketers is coming up in term 3. We will be sending out all the information directly to all our hardball cricketers as soon as dates are confirmed as well as promoting on our website and on Facebook.



    Holiday Programmes


    Southland Cricket will be looking to run some softball fun programmes for all our primary school aged kids in July. We are planning to have programmes in Invercargill at the Queen’s Park Indoor Centre and in Gore with the venue to be confirmed soon. The structure of our programmes is subject to the alert level at that time and the health and safety protocols that are in place.
